EMI France suggested a French version of 'The Never Ending Story' be recorded to compliment the English-language hit single sweeping the continent. French vocalist Ann Calvert was used for the Beth Andersen part. I didn't speak much French at all, but was assured that a voice/dialect coach would be on hand. At the studio, we literally recorded it line-by-line in French. It was tough, to be honest, because the French language and pronunciation is tricky
